Michael Van Clarke | Bridal Hair Experience

Found the gown of your dreams? Check. Purchased a pair of aisle-worthy sky-scrapers? Check. Ordered the cake and eaten a considerable amount of it in the process? Check. Now lets talk about the hair, bridal babe…

When it comes to the big day, I’d definitely suggest having your mane styled and groomed by a professional. Not only does it mean you’ll be able to take to the aisle flaunting the tresses you’ve always dream of, but the process itself will make you feel amazing too. With my own wedding hair, it took a little while (and more than a few trial styles) to find the look I wanted, and as a curly girl, I wanted to keep it quite natural too. As with everything, it’s often hard to know where to start, and I often think that a recommendation can go a long way to help kick-start a process. Luckily, I recently had the honour of being invited to experience and review the bridal hair service at esteemed salon, Michael Van Clarke. Located in Marylebone, this thriving salon breathes luxury and instantly made me feel welcome.

Happily, my rather wild tresses were in the experienced hands of the salon’s Style Director, Gustav Fouche. Known for specialising in cutting and Red Carpet hair, as well as bridal (he loves bridal, so we had a lot to talk about especially when I discovered he creates a lot of the runway hair for Jenny Packham) this man will instantly whip your hair up into a aisle-worthy delight.

Within 1-2 hours Gustav had effortlessly twisted, braided, pinned, prepped and styled my hair into a myriad of beautiful bridal styles, working – which I liked – with my natural volume and texture, as well as adding a few well-placed, softer curls here and there. As he worked, we talked everything from how long a bridal hair service appointment takes at Michael Van Clarke (2 hours minimum) to what he loves most for the aisle (soft, pretty, tousled styles – nothing too harsh).

And, it isn’t just about styling you hair for the big day with Michael Van Clarke. Oh no, when you visit the salon they’ll look at the health of your hair, and suggest products and ways in which to get it into the best shape and condition for the day too. Trust me, when I say you’re in good hands…

A massive thank you to Gustav, who made it all look incredibly easy!
