Infused with a heady mix of nostalgia (for pre-lockdown days) and a childhood spent plucking violets in the fairy tale-like gardens of Esterházy Palace in Fertőd, designer Anita Benes has unveiled her latest bridal collection for Daalarna Couture: MIRROR.
Fuelled by daydreams and the presence of an ‘inner mirror’, Anita Benes has crafted a collection seeped in imagination and escapism. Drenched with sumptuous details and meticulous craftsmanship – signature to the couture brand – the designer took inspiration from one of the most memorable places of her childhood: the Esterházy Palace in Fertőd. Dubbed the Hungarian Versailles, it was here that a much younger Anita Benes spent many an idyllic day in spring time swept up in the divine elegance and Baroque-Rococo detailing of the palace and its splendid surroundings. “In springtime, I picked violets on the road there with my mother and grandmother, and we played hide and seek in the garden. I remember those moments like a fairy tale, and I wanted to evoke that atmosphere with my new collection.”
The result was the MIRROR Collection, an endlessly exquisite, haute couture line designed with the romantic yet modern bride in mind – one who isn’t afraid of “bolder, more rebellious solutions.” Prepare to fall heavily in love with everything from the label’s convertible designs (you’ll love the detachable trains and two-in-one style gowns) to a myriad of dresses flaunting deliciously delicate colour palettes – like something out of a Monet masterpiece. Trailing lace embroideries and deft motifs – inspired by the ethereal wall decorations of the Esterházy Palace – wind their way throughout the collection, whilst the incredible Limoges porcelain headpieces by jewellery designer, Rienne Bride effortlessly add that final flourishing touch to the line.
