If you scroll down to the bottom of the Diane Lewis Couture website you’ll spy the words “powered by the dress whisperer”, because it is. Every thread, seam, photograph, editorial, trumpet sleeve, A-line skirt and elegant silk slip of a gown is powered by the Australian bridal powerhouse and design wizard, Diane Lewis.
I first met Diane at the One Fine Day Bridal Market in London, back in 2019 (which now seems like a lifetime ago). Drawn to her rail of beautifully designed wedding dresses (not to mention her sparkling personality and wit), I knew brides’ would love her creative style and signature pizzazz. As one of Australia’s most esteemed couture designers, Diane Lewis launched her acclaimed label back in 1990 and quickly became one of Australia’s most trusted and sought-after designers (you’ll spot her red carpet creations everywhere from The Oscars to The Logies, Australia’s Emmys). Skilled at crafting one-off, made-to-measure couture-finished gowns, her signature designs endlessly steal brides’ hearts across the globe.
Three unique bridal collections bloom under the Diane Lewis Couture label, showcasing something for every type of bride. In 2018, Diane Lewis introduced her boho fusion label, Matheson+Me, offering ready-to-wear options for her more laid-back, bohemian-spirited bridal audience. Her high-voltage Diane Lewis line effortlessly replicates her trademark couture style in a ready-to-wear interpretation, while Ceremony caters to the eco-conscious bride, delivering a carefully curated, streamlined selection of gowns to the table with sustainable credentials in tow.
Each and every one of the Australian designer’s gowns are crafted in the label’s Sydney atelier. The Diane Lewis Couture brand – notably – also works very hard to reduce their carbon footprint by pointedly not storing made-up stock.
