I know this may come as a surprise, but I’ve got a real thing for PINK. *GASP*
Happily, so does Florist, Hiding in the City’s Creative Director, Sarah Loughgrey-Jennings…
I caught up with Sarah to talk all things pink when it comes to nailing your wedding and reception flowers, because when it comes to the BIG DAY you’ll want the perfect backdrop for that show-stopper of a wedding gown…
Q. What is pink to you and why do you think it’s so BIG right now?
“Pink is big at the moment. Whether it’s layering different shades of soft pinks against muddy plaster pink tones or just having flashes of electric popping pink, it’s a real nod to femininity and we at Hiding in the City Flowers are on board for all its different modern styling options to draw it away from the traditional wedding aesthetic.”
Q. What’s Hiding in the City’s favourite way of using pink when it comes to styling and floristry?
“One of our top favourite fun clean looks for summer brides is a no frills palette pairing: lots of traditional clean whites with a haul of hot popping pink flowers and nice dark green foliage. The key is to think “flashes of colour” and group these bold colours together with emphasis on lots of white brought in from your other styling, whether they’re your linen or clean, minimalist dress or even for the rest of your flowers.”
Q. What flowers would you suggest when it comes to those all-important pops of pink?
“Seasonal summer flowers that we recommend to achieve this are Nerine, Hydrangea, Roses, Orchids and of course British roses. ‘Big Purple’ is a favourite and has an amazingly oversized bloom.”
