Gorgeous real bride, Lucy tied the knot this 2019 at St Oswalds Church, Sowerby before descending on the family farm in Islebeck with Boutipi Tipis to indulge in. Taking to the aisle in a truly dreamy, sleeveless mermaid crepe gown with beaded floral appliqués (Zaida by St. Patrick from Chloë Jane Bridal) the bride literally glowed, especially when it came to her heavenly hair and make-up. We caught up with Lucy to discover what she thought about her personal Becca Hunton Hair & Make-up experience…
#1 How did you come across Becca Hunton Hair & Make-up? What drew you to her work?
“My usual beautician, who I’ve been going to for a couple of years now, recommended Becca as she had previously used her. I don’t wear lots of make-up so was worried I wouldn’t look myself, but as soon as I saw Becca’s work I knew she was the right choice. It’s so classy, subtly bold and elegant. I knew I had to have her right away”

#2 Talk us through your first hair/make-up trial with Becca. How did you feel? Did you have a look in mind already? Or did Becca help you to realise the dream wedding day look you were after?
“I met with Becca for a trial in March with the wedding in May. Again, I had a rough idea of what I wanted but after chatting to Becca I was so happy for her to guide me. All of her work that I had seen was just what I wanted. We chatted through ideas and looked through pictures over a brew. I instantly felt comfortable and knew straight away if I didn’t like something I could tell her without feeling uncomfortable which is really important to me. We did hair first and I loved the first style she did so we didn’t need to try anymore! I had shown her a few pictures of what I liked and told her I wanted something really loose and natural but also elegant and that’s exactly what I got and more! Then onto the make up. This was the part I was most worried about. Again, we had a long chat and I stressed I really wanted to look likr myself and that I don’t often wear make up. Becca was great and showed me what she was doing as she went along. As soon as we started chatting and bouncing ideas off each other my worries vanished. I knew I was in good hands! I loved the finished result and didn’t feel like I was wearing loads of make-up! Instead I felt a million dollars and couldn’t wait for my big day!”

#3 How many looks did you try out with Becca until you found ‘the one’? How many trials did you have before the wedding?
“This is an easy one! Because Becca was so creative and in tune with what I wanted we only needed to try one look and she got it spot on straight away! I knew she was the right girl to have, so we only needed the one trial (although I’d have had more just to catch up with her she was so lovely!)”

#4 What was your big day bridal hair/make-up experience like with Becca? Did she also work her magic across your bridesmaids?
“Becca was my sense of calm on my wedding day! I was sooo nervous and just felt completely out of my comfort zone. I’m not usually the centre of attention and was so nervous but she calmed me down so much! I don’t even think she realised she was doing it! Becca did my bridesmaids hair and did a fab job, it was like she had been our friends for years! I was last which was perfect because it made those last moments go really quick! She made me look gorgeous and I felt ready for action! Becca came to my home and it was really busy that morning so sitting in the kitchen with her felt like a little bit of zen!”

#5 What did you love most about your experience with Becca Hunton Hair & Make-up?
“There are so many things I loved about having Becca there on my wedding day, but mostly that she felt like a friend! I felt like she was with me every step of the way, and wasn’t just there to do a job and get paid! Becca was kind, caring and compassionate and made me feel totally at ease like I’d known her my entire life! That’s exactly what you need in someone who’s going to style you for one of the biggest days of your life!”

#6 Would you recommend Becca Hunton Hair & Make-up to other brides-to-be?
“Would I recommend becca????? YESS a million times yes! Becca is just sensational – I’ve already booked her again for a wedding we’re going to later on in the year! In fact of all the suppliers I worked with she was the one who I loved the most and had absolutely no problems with! I would and already have recommended her to anyone who has a big event or their own wedding coming up, she truly is fabulous!!!!”

I also caught up with Becca herself to discuss everything from the bride’s look to the bride tribe…
#1 Talk us through the trial process with Lucy, did you decide on the final look together or did Lucy already have a set idea in her head?
“Lucy already had some ideas so we went through them all and chatted about what would work best. The first hairstyle we tried Lucy absolutely loved and that was ‘the one’ for the big day. I knew she wanted relaxed and boho so we went for an effortless, loose low bun. The make-up was pretty much the same, relaxed and natural with an element of glam… Lucy still wanted to look like herself and not caked in make-up. I love this look, it’s timeless and romantic.”

#2 Did the bride’s gown/neckline effect the overall look? If so, how?
“Yes, definitely. The neckline was high at the front with a scooping back, so taking the hair away from face showed off the neckline, and a low bun sitting in the nape of the neck kept it symetrical, complimenting the scooping back detail.”
#3 Did you work across the bride’s bridesmaids or anyone else from the bride’s bridal party? If so, talk us through these looks and how their gowns/outfits effected the choice of hair/make-up.
“I did all the bridesmaids’ hair for Lucy’s big day. So, in keeping with Lucy’s look we kept everything relaxed, bohemian with loose curls. Their gowns were midi length with a high neckline so the hair was mostly swept away from the face or to the side.”

#4 What did you love most about creating Lucy’s look?
“Lucy was so the most fabulous bride, she was a pleasure to get ready. We had exactly the same taste so thinking up ideas was easy. I loved how effortlessly cool and beautiful she looked.”
A massive thank you to Lucy for sharing her beautiful wedding day photos, taken by the seriously talented Emma Ryan Photography.
